Maz is an oak tree; blooming in the spring, beautiful and bountiful in the autumn, stressed in the summer and bleak and miserable in the winter, home to a countless array of other organisms that rely on me to exist. I acknowledge that all these other-than-human organisms and cells I am in symbiosis with is a large part of my they.
Maz is a gender neutral name that is Scandinavian in origin. It is also a shortening of my full name in my local vernacular dialect. That's grounding and I like it.
Maz is Genderfae.
Maz is on mastodon on social.lol and you can find some photos at maz.some.pics
Maz exists and that is enough.
I am old, Gandalf; HRT can cover a multitude, but I am undeniably a lot older than once I was.
I'd hoped by now that I'd have settled into a quiet, slow wisdom, the sort that can be calm and measured and drop a pearl into the midst of chaos that immediately shifts perspectives.
Yes, I basically hoped I'd be a TV Movie character, go figure.
I'm not calm and measured though, I remain who I've always been, passionately mercurial and with precisely the same sense of rambling incoherence I always had. I'm just better at accepting that's who I am now.
I read. I write. I create a multitude of different things that are largely poor, but give me pleasure. I like to watch an interesting video, I like to try and make a game out of tasks. I like to watch and observe and try and understand.
I like to think that things can be a whole lot better than they are. I regret often thinking that things may have to get worse yet before that happens. I like to hope that we could surpass and step outside the self-interest that has been normalised as "the only way" over the past few decades. I look and see that we're not ready for that yet.
I'm quiet if you meet me in person; looking for connection but incapable of the small talk that bridges the gap between here and there. I don't stray too far from home, but I'm obliged to go out every day.
I love to watch the seasons develop and change, through what is growing or living in my vicinity. I firmly believe that there are a lot more than the simple deliniations of 4 seasons, but still less than the Japanese system of 72 seasons.
I like to learn new things. I like to try and keep up the things I've already learned. I tell myself I'll remember how to do that thing later for sure. I quite often don't.
I want today to be a good day. I hope yours is too.
